A statutory audit gives shareholders, banks, free zone authorities and the Federal Tax Authority independent confidence in your financial statements. At Hussain Al Shemsi Chartered Accountants, our audit team in Sharjah carries out statutory and external audits under International Standards on Auditing (ISA) for mainland and free zone companies across the UAE.
We go beyond ticking boxes. Every audit ends with a clear report and practical observations on your controls, so you get assurance and useful insight from the same exercise.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a statutory audit mandatory for UAE mainland companies?
Yes. Under the UAE Commercial Companies Law, companies must appoint an auditor and have their annual financial statements audited.
Do free zone companies need audited financial statements?
Most free zones require them, usually for licence renewal. Rules and deadlines vary by free zone, and many accept reports only from approved auditors.
When do I need audited financial statements for Corporate Tax?
Under Ministerial Decision No. 84 of 2025, businesses with revenue above AED 50 million, Qualifying Free Zone Persons and all tax groups must prepare audited financial statements. This applies to financial years starting on or after 1 January 2025.
How long does a statutory audit take?
Most SME audits take two to four weeks once your records are ready; larger groups take longer. We agree a timeline at the start based on your year end and deadlines.
What documents do you need for the audit?
Your trial balance and general ledger, bank statements, sales and purchase invoices, fixed asset register, inventory records, key contracts, licence and shareholder documents, and last year’s audited accounts.
What is the difference between a statutory audit and an internal audit?
A statutory audit gives an independent opinion on your financial statements for shareholders and authorities. An internal audit reviews your processes and controls to help management run the business better.
How much does a statutory audit cost in the UAE?
Fees depend on the size of the business, the volume of transactions and the quality of records. We give a fixed quote in AED after a short review.
