What is SRTIP / SPARK?
The Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), also known as SPARK, is Sharjah's flagship technology and innovation free zone, established to attract research institutions, technology companies, and innovation-driven enterprises. All SRTIP-licensed companies are required to appoint an SRTIP-approved auditor and submit annual audited financial statements as a condition of licence renewal and regulatory compliance.

SRTIP was established by the Sharjah government to position the emirate as a global hub for research, technology, and innovation. As a free zone authority, SRTIP requires all registered entities — from technology startups and R&D centres to university spin-offs and corporate innovation units — to maintain IFRS-compliant financial records and submit annual audited financial statements to the SRTIP Authority.
SRTIP Compliance Requirement: All SRTIP-licensed companies must submit annual audited financial statements prepared by an SRTIP-approved auditor. Failure to comply can result in licence suspension, financial penalties, and restrictions on employee visa processing and banking relationships.
Who Must File an SRTIP Audit?
- All companies holding an active SRTIP / SPARK trade licence, regardless of size or annual turnover
- Technology startups, R&D entities, and innovation companies registered under SRTIP
- University spin-offs and academic research commercialisation entities in SPARK
- Dormant SRTIP companies still on the register (a nil-activity audit report is still required)
